Interior renovation

Primary bedroom and suite remodeling

The primary bedroom — often still called the master bedroom — is the one room in the house that should be entirely yours. We help turn it into a calm, well-lit suite with storage that works.

Renovated primary bedroom with a board-and-batten wall, oak floors and layered lighting

Overview

Primary bedroom projects tend to grow naturally: new flooring leads to new trim, which leads to rethinking lighting, which leads to the closet. Planning it as one suite avoids redoing work later.

We look at the bedroom, closet and any connected bathroom together, so finishes, lighting and storage feel like one considered space rather than a series of separate updates.

Scope

What primary bedroom remodeling can include

  • Flooring and trim

New flooring with matching baseboards, casings and finish carpentry.

  • Lighting plans

Layered lighting — overhead, bedside and accent — installed by appropriately licensed trades.

  • Accent walls and millwork

Paneling, board-and-batten or built-in details that add character.

  • Closet integration

Upgrading or adding a walk-in closet as part of the suite.

  • Suite reconfiguration

Reworking walls to connect a bedroom, closet and bathroom where the structure allows.

Permits and licensed-trade requirements depend on your project and municipality and are confirmed in each written scope.

Before you reach out

Questions worth thinking about

  • Which parts of the room are you hoping to change — floors, lighting, storage, layout?
  • Is there an ensuite bathroom you would like to include?
  • Are you considering moving or removing any walls?
  • Do you need to keep using the room during the work?

Not sure about some of these? That is fine — we can work through them together.

Cost factors

What affects the price

Every property is different, so we do not publish set prices. These are the factors that move the number most.

Scope breadth
Cosmetic updates differ greatly from reconfiguring walls and adding a bathroom.
Flooring choice
Hardwood, engineered wood and LVP vary in cost and installation.
Lighting and electrical
New fixtures and switching may require electrical work.
Millwork detail
Custom paneling and built-ins add carpentry time.
Connected spaces
Including a closet or bathroom expands the trades involved.

Process

How a project moves forward

  1. Step 1

    Tell us about the project

Use the form to share the service, location and what you want to change. Photos help but are optional.

  2. Step 2

    Initial conversation

We review your request and follow up to ask questions and confirm whether the project is a good fit.

  3. Step 3

    Site visit when needed

Most projects need an in-person look before a firm scope can be written. Visits are scheduled by mutual confirmation.

  4. Step 4

    Written scope and estimate

You receive a written description of the proposed work and price for review. Nothing is binding until a contract is signed.

  5. Step 5

    Scheduling and the work

Start dates, permits and selections are confirmed in writing before work begins.

  6. Step 6

    Final walkthrough

We walk the finished work with you and address punch-list items.

We usually walk the bedroom, closet and bathroom together so the scope can be phased sensibly if you prefer to do it in stages.

This is our proposed process. Timing, visits and terms are confirmed for each project in writing.

FAQ

Primary Bedroom Remodeling questions

Can you add a bathroom to my primary bedroom?

Sometimes. It depends on available space, structure and where plumbing can run. A site visit is needed to assess feasibility.

Can the project be done in phases?

Yes. We can plan the full suite and sequence it so earlier work does not need to be redone later.

Do I need permits for a bedroom remodel?

Cosmetic work often does not, while electrical, plumbing or structural changes commonly do. Requirements depend on scope and municipality.

Will the rest of the house be disrupted?

We plan dust control and access routes to keep disruption contained, and we discuss this before work starts.
